A Northern Brewer

My Brewing In Hamilton.
More happy news! Another Silver! I’m very pleased to say that my “Purple Murphy” took 2nd place in Railway City’s Summer’s Best Brew competition! Purple Murphy is another weird one- it’s an interesting ale made with Purple Potatoes. The intense colour of the spuds left this beer a touch more orange than blonde. It was fermented with a Lazarus pit yeast- an ancient Scottish ale strain that behaved much more like a Belgian after its resurrection. It is a rather bitter and phenolic little number!! It has approximately 7.5% alcohol by volume and 60 IBUs.
