More happy news! Another Silver! I’m very pleased to say that my “Purple Murphy” took 2nd place in Railway City’s Summer’s Best Brew competition!
Purple Murphy is another weird one- it’s an interesting ale made with Purple Potatoes. The intense colour of the spuds left this beer a touch more orange than blonde. It was fermented with a Lazarus pit yeast- an ancient Scottish ale strain that behaved much more like a Belgian after its resurrection. It is a rather bitter and phenolic little number!! It has approximately 7.5% alcohol by volume and 60 IBUs.
